Kristin Bird

Kristin specializes in teaching what it is to live an integrative lifestyle of peace in the physical, mental, and emotional bodies.

She believes in healing the mind through the body and has devoted her life to studying a Yogic lifestyle through the lenses of classical philosophy and the modern medical system.

She is trained in a variety of Yoga styles through studies in Nepal, India, and the United States — including Adaptive Therapeutic, Hatha, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa, Iyengar, and Bikram.

Kristin is a current student in a Yoga Therapy Graduate program through Loyola Marymount University and has completed additional training in Ayurvedic Medicine.

Additionally, she has studied practices of OSHO meditations, Indigenous Wisdom teachings, and Abrahamic Faith practices through immersive experiences worldwide.

Reverend Satya Jayānanda

Reverend Satya Jayānanda (James) is an ordained Interfaith Minister and was bestowed with his ordination at the Parliament of World Religions in 2023.

Satya holds a Masters Degree in Interfaith Divinity, studying the many truths of the world, and has completed an intensive study of End of Life Care.

He believes that all spiritual paths spring forth from the same well of divine being and brings the essence of many traditions to his yoga classes.

Rev. Satya has served and studied in various parts of the world having finished his yoga studies in Nepal and being a member of Performers Without borders in Africa.

His main teachings focus on how to cultivate a healthy body, a peaceful mind, and a joyful heart.

Frequently Asked Questions

A retreat with meditations and somatic therapy modalities from many different cultures and philosophies around the world.

We believe in cultivating community and connection to the self and others by bringing the many truths of the world together as one.

You will fly into La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

You must arrive on March 31st BEFORE 2pm.
You must depart on April 6th AFTER 2pm.

If these times cannot be arranged, please fly from the city a day before/after.

We can assist in arranging comfortable and safe accommodations within the city as needed.

Yes! All ground transportation, including to/from the airport, will be included. We will coordinate the shuttle times with your arrival/departure. Please note that your flight is not included in our retreat package.
There are currently no required vaccines for entry/exit within Guatemala. Please talk to your healthcare provider for any further concerns.

Yes, a passport is required.
Your passport must have a MINIMUM of 6 months validity from your departure date.

The date of expiration MUST be after October 6th, 2025.

For United States citizens, there are currently no visa requirements for entry into Guatemala.

If you are from a different country, we will discuss on an individual basis to ensure you qualify for a visa if needed.

Hot water will be available in the showers as well as WiFi in the common areas of our venue. AC units are not present but each room is equipped with a fan. Please note that we are in a remote location of Central America and incidents of hot water/power outages may take place.
The venue is kind enough to offer laundry services to each guest - we ask that you coordinate loads and limit to one load for the week. Tips are not required but encouraged for the staff providing the service.
While it is not required by the country itself, Travel insurance is required for Satsand Adventures retreats and experiences. We recommend using World Nomads as they are highly reputable, responsible, and responsive.
Generally, most places will accept USD but it is highly recommended to have the currency (quetzals) on hand. ATM / Currency Exchange services will be available at the airport upon arrival.
In the unlikely event you do get sick, we have the nearest doctor / emergency room information on hand and will promptly get you there. Please double check that you bring any medications that you normally take - the pharmacy in foreign countries are different and you should not rely on receiving what you need there. If you are on regular medication or have any allergies we require that you inform us. All medical information will be kept confidential and is only used to keep you safe and in the case of an emergency.
We will be in the tropics so you can expect warm and humid temperatures. While we cannot predict the weather, we are going during a season that is likely to be sunny and dry, but rain is possible so please be prepared.
